Kaiāulu
A future place to learn, move, create, connect, and grow.
Developing project and visionProject overview
A Shared Community Vision
Kaiāulu is a developing project and long term vision centered on education, youth opportunity, wellness, culture, family, and community connection.
Our vision is to one day create a community centered learning, wellness, and opportunity hub serving West Hawaiʻi. We envision a place where keiki, ʻōpio, ʻohana, educators, mentors, cultural practitioners, coaches, community organizations, and local businesses can come together.
Kaiāulu remains a vision. No physical center currently exists.
A place for ʻohana.
A place for learning.
A place for wellness.
A place for kaiāulu.
Education reform vision
Strong Communities Help Create Strong Learners
We believe education extends beyond the classroom. A young person’s ability to learn and thrive is connected to family, culture, health, confidence, relationships, opportunity, and a strong sense of belonging.
Education can be strengthened when young people have access to supportive adults, culture, movement, creativity, technology, mentorship, healthy relationships, community resources, and opportunities to discover their strengths.
Kaiāulu represents our vision of bringing those pieces together.

Working with our community
Strengthening Connections
Our goal is not to replace schools, educators, programs, cultural practitioners, businesses, or organizations already doing important work. Our vision is to strengthen the connections between them.
We hope to create an environment where young people can discover their strengths, families feel supported, and community relationships have space to grow.
The Foundation is listening, researching, building relationships, exploring feasibility, and learning directly from our community as this project develops.
